According to the American Psychological Association, “75 to 90% of all physician office visits are for stress-related ailments and complaints”. In most cases, people who are anxious tend to breathe in their upper lungs (upper chest) with shallow, rapid breaths or tend to hyperventilate by exhaling more than they inhale. During this session, we will be taught 5 calming breathing techniques which can help us to relieve stress and anxiety. These techniques aim to optimize physical and emotional wellbeing, help us to sleep better, and promote relaxation.

In this session, we will

  • Practice five breathing techniques based on mindfulness to feel calm  
  • Experience breathing as a natural way to better sleep, relax and focus  
  • Learn how to decrease the cortisol levels, which is the body’s primary stress hormone

What you Need to Know Before you Join:

  • You are welcome to participate with your cameras on/off
  • You don’t need to be experienced to join any of our yoga or anti-stress stretching classes (the instructor provides a series of modification for every posture)
  • You can join more than once during the same day
  • You can join with a family member or a friend
  • You don’t need any special equipment to join (instead of a mat you can use a long towel)
  • To join the class just click on the relevant hyperlink on the time you are interested to participate on the agenda above
  • You don’t need to download the Zoom application to join the room – just click on the link
